Questions & Answers

Frequently
Asked Questions

Why is my furnace blowing cold air?

The most common causes are a dirty air filter restricting airflow, a blown pilot light, a faulty thermostat, or issues with the ignition system or gas valve. Our technicians can diagnose the exact cause and fix it the same day in most cases.

Why does my furnace keep turning on and off every few minutes?

This is called short cycling and is usually caused by an overheating unit triggering the safety limit switch, a clogged air filter, or a faulty flame sensor. It puts serious strain on your system and drives up energy bills - best to get it checked quickly before more damage occurs.

Why does my furnace smell?

It depends on the type of smell. A dusty or burning smell at the start of the heating season is normal - it's just dust burning off the heat exchanger. A rotten egg or sulfur smell can indicate a gas leak - turn off your furnace immediately and call us or 911. A metallic or burning plastic smell may point to an electrical issue or overheating component. Musty odors usually mean mold in the ductwork. If you're unsure about any smell coming from your furnace, don't wait - call us and we'll diagnose it the same day.

Why is my furnace making a buzzing noise?

A buzzing noise from your furnace is usually caused by a failing transformer, a loose electrical component, or a worn-out blower motor. It can also indicate an issue with the inducer motor or a relay that's about to fail. Buzzing is almost always electrical in nature, so we recommend not ignoring it - left unchecked, it can lead to a bigger and more expensive repair down the line.

Why is my furnace not turning on?

The most common reasons are a tripped circuit breaker, a blown fuse, a dead thermostat battery, or a tripped safety switch caused by overheating. Check those first before calling. If everything looks fine but the furnace still won't start, the issue is likely with the ignitor, control board, or gas supply — and that needs a technician.

Why is my furnace leaking water?

Water around your furnace is most commonly caused by a clogged or broken condensate drain line - especially on high-efficiency furnaces. It can also come from a cracked heat exchanger or a problem with the humidifier. Don't ignore it - water damage can escalate quickly. Call us and we'll find the source and fix it the same day.

HOW MUCH WILL MY FURNACE REPAIR COST?

The cost of repairs can vary depending on the nature of the problem and the parts required. We provide upfront pricing after the initial inspection and before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

WHAT BRANDS OF FURNACE UNITS CAN YOU REPAIR?

Our technicians are trained to repair all major furnace brands. Whether you have a newer model or an older unit, we have the expertise to handle repairs for any system.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY FURNACE STOPS WORKING AFTER HOURS?

If your furnace stops working outside of regular business hours, please call our Customer Care Line, which is available 24/7. Our Customer Care specialists will assist you in arranging an appointment. Please note that our technicians are available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
